Parent Portal Log in

Infinite Campus 

The Parent Portal is a web-based formation system that all Boone County Schools use to house information and data about your child. It is a great way to stay on top of your child's progress throughout the school year. Your child's grades are updated on a weekly basis so you can be as update to date with their progress as possible.   

Your log in works from school to school within Boone County, so if you had access from the elementary or middle school in prior years, you can use that access information for your child @ Cooper.  


1.  If you do not have access to log-in; please stop by our main office to obtain the activation code and step-by-step instructions.   You will need a photo ID in order to receive the activation code.  See our receptionist, Dory Branch.

2.  Once you have access; please check the information we have on file to ensure it is correct. An e-mail address is one item that tends to change frequently.  Please help us have the most up-to-date demographic contact information in order to for to communicate with you.

This page provides an outline for each  day's lesson.  In addition to general information regarding the day's agenda, students can find detailed information regarding homework assignments, in class work and assessments. 

This page also contains information pertaining to Quick Quizzes given (almost) daily.  Most Quick Quiz questions and/or topics are provided the night BEFORE the Quick Quiz is given so it is always prudent to check this site in order to be prepared for class.  The information here is the same that was given to students during class regarding preparation for the following days' Quick Quiz.  This site is also helpful if you need to make up a Quick Quiz as you can always look back to the day you were absent and find the information you need to study for the Quick Quiz you missed. 

In the event that you were absent or missed all or part of class due to other obligations, this page will provide you with the information you need to get caught up and the work you may need to make up.  The documents provided here will also be provided to each student for each day absent upon returning to school.   No information will be provided on this site that was not also provided in class.  Use the Quick Links above to view this page!

This page will help with organizing your binder.  Maintaining a binder is an important and required part of this class.  As we do not have the funds to purchase a textbook for each student to take home and study nightly we will create our own textbooks!  We will assemble these binders throughout the school year.  A portion of each class will be dedicated to identifying and labeling each item to be kept in each student's binder.  Since a portion of class time is devoted to binder creation and maintenance a subsequent portion of this courses grade will be based on each student's binder.  Please refer to Binder Organization PowerPoint and Binder Rubric for additional grading requirements.  There will also be a Binder Assess each unit grading the organization and completeness of each binder.  Use the Quick Links above to view this page!

Here you can find a list of units as we cover them this year.  Click on each individual unit to be taken to many materials and resources associated with that section.  Materials include PowerPoint notes, homework, worksheets, study guides and other helpful materials.  Resources include internet animations, review and interactive websites.  There is additional information provided on these pages that is not covered in class.  This additional information is meant to be used as a study guide and to help students better understand the material covered in class.  Only material covered or expressly assigned during class will count toward a grade.   Use the Quick Links above to view this page! 

Late, Missing, Absent and Make-Up Work 

Homework Assignments

You have the same number of days to make up homework assigned during your absence as the number of days you were absent.  If you are absent one day you have one full day to make up your missed work. For example, if you are absent on Monday you have Tuesday to get caught up and your missed work should be turned in at the beginning of class on Wednesday.    Anything submitted after this may not be accepted for credit.  All assignments should be handed into the homework box within this deadline.  Make sure your name, date submitted, period you have biology and the BIN is provided. For late work please make sure assignments are submitted by the posted Extended Deadline.

Quizzes, Tests,and Assessments

Due within two weeks of original date or by deadlines posted below – whichever comes FIRST.  You may not be permitted to make up work past this deadline.  All assignments should be made up during Voluntary In School Tutoring during JAM. After school tutoring will no longer be used for making up missed assessments in an effort to preserve this time for content focused instruction and practice.   Please make sure all work is made up by the posted Extended Deadline.

  • Students will need to register for this time using the appropriate link on Cooper's homepage
    • Please scroll down the page until you see the section titled "In School Tutoring Sign Up. 
    • Select the day you wish to attend tutoring and follow the directions. 
    • When asked which standard you need help with please just enter "quiz or test make up".  
    • After school tutoring will no longer be used for making up missed assessments in an effort to preserve this time for content focused instruction and practice. 
  • If you are enrolled in our RTI program or are an FMP during JAM you will need to schedule time during Flex Wednesday or before school with Mrs. Averett.·  


Biology is a vocabulary intensive subject. Learning, understanding, and being able to correctly spell this new 'language' is essential to mastering the content of this class. The unit pages provide the rather extensive lists of vocabulary terms we will be dealing with this year. Use the Quick Links above to access each unit page. Please do not become overwhelmed when viewing these lists. Considerable amounts of time will be spent discussing these terms in class. However, it is the students responsibility to be able to spell, study, learn and review these terms. Flashcards are a great way to conquer this task! We will be working with flashcards in class and each student should have their own set for each unit. Please come see me if you need help.

You will be expected to create a flashcard for each of the vocabulary terms we have discussed so far. The front of the flashcard (3x5 index card available in a blue basket in the back of the classroom) should have a clearly written and correctly spelled vocabulary term. The flip side of the card should have a complete student generated definition. Students are encouraged to use their notes from class to write the definitions. Alternate resources may also be helpful for understanding the words but the required concepts that need to be included in each definition for this class were covered during class discussion and are included on the PowerPoint notes. Students are encourage to include additional information, diagrams, or examples on the back of the flashcards if this information is useful in learning, understanding and remembering the vocabulary term.

Secret Worlds: The Universe Within

View the Milky Way at 10 million light years from the Earth. Then move through space towards the Earth in successive orders of magnitude until you reach a tall oak tree just outside the buildings of the National High Magnetic Field Laboratory in Tallahassee, Florida. After that, begin to move from the actual size of a leaf into a microscopic world that reveals leaf cell walls, the cell nucleus, chromatin, DNA and finally, into the subatomic universe of electrons and protons.
